Hyundai Translead is a San Diego, California, maker of commercial transportation equipment. According to the company’s website, it builds dry van and refrigerated van trailers, flatbeds, truck bodies and dollies, and it is the official distributor of XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks. The company began in San Diego as Hyundai Precision America, a transportation equipment subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, and later took the Hyundai Translead name. In March 2026 the company announced two manufacturing plants in Will County, Illinois, on 52 acres along the Des Plaines River: one on a former heavy-equipment operations site and one on a former electric bus plant site. On Oct. 22, 2026, it raised its planned Illinois investment to $600 million and its job commitment to 3,750 full-time positions by adding a third production shift.
