About
Grady-White Boats builds offshore and coastal fishing and family boats at its factory on MLK Jr. Highway in Greenville, North Carolina. Its current lineup includes 11 center console models from 18 to 45 feet, 11 dual consoles from 21 to 41 feet, walkaround and express cabins, and four Coastal Explorer models, grouped into Fisherman and Canyon series among others.
In 1988 the company introduced its SeaV² hull, developed with Ray Hunt Design, which uses a continuously variable vee shape meant to give a soft, dry ride underway and stability at rest. Grady-White says all of its hulls and decks are 100 percent hand laid, using fiberglass kits cut by a computer-programmed digital router from model-specific patterns, with overlapping layers at the bow stem and keel. Boats use foam flotation the company describes as unsinkable, and a quality assurance lab tests resins, fiberglass, stainless steel and mechanical parts before use.
Each finished boat is cleaned, buffed and inspected before shipping to a dealer. The factory tour page also describes the workforce culture: a weekly all-hands meeting on Friday mornings, rewards for reading and personal development, and craftsman levels. Grady-White invites buyers to visit the Greenville plant and also offers a virtual tour.
