Creative Foodworks is a contract manufacturer of hot-filled and acidified foods in San Antonio, Texas. The family-founded company started in 1987 and makes sauces, salsas, marinades and dressings for brands sold on shelves nationwide. It does not sell products of its own, so it never competes with the brands it produces for, and it says many customers have stayed with it for more than 20 years. Its products have shipped to 48 states.

Services cover full co-packing of hot-filled, acidified and shelf-stable foods; formulation, including recipe development from scratch, reverse engineering, scale-up and value engineering, plus a library of house recipes; and commercialization help taking products from a first run into major retail. Its food scientists adjust formulas so they work at production scale, and the company replies to new inquiries within two business days.

Product is hot-filled in batches of 1,000 gallons or more, with 1,000 gallons as the minimum run, into retail or foodservice packaging. Creative Foodworks says it is SQF certified, Kosher certified by the Orthodox Union and certified under a gluten-free food program, and that its controls are monitored by in-house staff and outside auditors.
