Aerospace components; Precision machined parts
About
Satellite Aerospace, Inc. has made precision aircraft parts in Manchester, Connecticut, since 1975. From its 22,000-square-foot facility on Chapel Road, a team of about 25 produces aircraft sheet metal components and small machined parts for commercial and defense aerospace programs.
Sheet metal work includes stampings, forming on power presses, complex assemblies and in-house tooling design and fabrication. The machine shop runs CNC turning and milling along with conventional lathes and Bridgeports, plus shear operations. The company says its laser and EDM cutting are OEM approved; they handle complex profiles in exotic and high-temperature alloys. It says its welding is approved to Pratt & Whitney PWA16 specifications, including PWA16-2, 22 and 222 and PWA16-3, 33 and 333, and its assembly to PWA357-0 and 21, with full traceability on each weld and assembly.
The quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 Rev. D. Satellite says it is an LCS approved house with certified delegated product release verification, so it can self-release parts, and that it is equipped for source inspection for PWA end use. It holds a government CAGE code and has a local government source inspector on staff. Inspection tools include optical comparators, surface plates, height gages and sine plates.
