About
Texas Structural Steel fabricates structural steel in its own facility in Dayton, Texas, and does not broker fabrication to outside shops. Material procurement, cutting, fitting, welding, surface preparation and painting are all done in-house, and the company’s detailing and erection crews work alongside the shop so the same team draws, builds and sets the steel.
Welded connections follow AWS D1.1, and AISC standards set its dimensional tolerances and workmanship. Every project runs through a quality program that checks dimensions against approved shop drawings, verifies welds and inspects prep and paint before shipping. Pieces are match-marked and tagged to the erection drawings, and anchor bolt plans are checked before concrete is poured. Material is ordered to the project bill of materials, and fabrication can be released in phases so field crews don’t wait on steel.
The shop builds wide-flange beams and columns; rectangular, square and round HSS; angles, channels and other shapes; base, gusset and connection plates; tilt-wall embeds and blockouts; industrial platforms and mezzanines; catwalks; handrail and guardrail; bar grating and stairs; and custom weldments. Deliveries are timed to the erection sequence and coordinated with the project superintendent.
