King Fabrication produces heavy specialty steel fabrications from an 18-acre main facility on the outskirts of Houston, next to the interstate network and Bush Intercontinental Airport. The company has worked for more than 25 years, says it has projects on five continents, and operates a marine yard on the Houston Ship Channel for barge shipments.

Its principal products are marine structures, barges, bridges, architectural projects, and spillway gates, floodgates and other hydroelectric components. Work can be built in carbon steel, high-alloy carbon, stainless steel, aluminum and other alloys. The company integrates engineering design, fabrication and coating for the marine, specialized industrial, architectural and civil engineering, and infrastructure markets, and it also machines precision components for other fabricators.

The site has close to 190,000 square feet under roof. The machining division occupies a 12,000-square-foot building with two 20-ton cranes and 20 feet of hook height, and four 36,000-pound forklifts move large pieces. Services include material processing, heavy fabrication, surface preparation and high-performance coatings, quality control and assembly, and the shop uses Tekla Structures, Rhino and Tekla Fabsuite software. King Fab reports 20 certifications and 15 award-winning bridges.
