About
Regulator Marine builds center console sportfishing boats in Edenton, North Carolina. Its founders started the company in 1988 in an abandoned A&P grocery store in Edenton, where they hand-built a full-scale model of the first Regulator 26. Today the company works from a manufacturing facility a short distance from that original building and labels its boats “Made in America since 1988.”
The first Regulator 26 launched in 1990-1991 and was named the best up-and-coming center console by Sport Fishing Magazine. The company received its first Customer Service Index award in 2003. In 2019 it introduced the XO Series of crossover center consoles for lakes, bays and shallow water, and expanded its factory by 55,000 square feet. In 2026 the Regulator 35 won a Center Console Innovation Award. The company also recounts how a Regulator called the Queen Bee was found off Spain in 2012 after an unmanned drift of more than 3,000 miles across the Atlantic.
Regulator says it still builds each boat by hand and puts quality ahead of delivery dates. Its stated mission is to build the best center console sportfishing boats while honoring God, and it lists safety, integrity, personal accountability and stewardship as company values. Factory tours are offered.
