Cascade Mfg Co, headquartered in Cascade, Iowa, has fabricated cold-formed steel trusses since 1998 and says it is the nation’s largest fabricator of TrusSteel trusses. Its Texas plant on County Road 383 in Tyler opened in early 2015, according to the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry, and works alongside plants in Cascade and East Dublin, Georgia. The company says it has delivered projects to 44 of the 48 contiguous states and to eight countries.

TrusSteel trusses use a symmetrical U-shaped chord that the company says needs less temporary and permanent bracing than C- or J-shaped sections, and they are used in both roof and floor systems. A typical package includes the trusses and attachment hardware, a placement diagram, engineered and sealed individual truss designs, a hardware connection schedule, permanent bracing materials, bent metal for deck support at hips, valleys and eaves, and job-site delivery. Project-specific bracing diagrams, gable-end outlooker framing, roof shear transfer framing and metal decking are available when required.

Cascade’s plants are third-party quality certified under the Structural Building Components Research Institute’s inspection program, and the company runs its own fleet of tractors and trailers that can haul single trusses up to 13 feet wide and 80 feet long. It also lists wood trusses and engineered wood products among its lines. The City of Houston registers the Tyler plant as a fabricator of cold-formed steel trusses and wall panels.
