About
Texas Building Supply is a US LBM building-materials dealer that was formerly J.P. Hart Lumber; US LBM’s brand page says the Hart business was founded in 1939 and is headquartered in San Antonio. Alongside lumber yards and millwork shops, the company runs three component plants: Van Alstyne Components at 1776 Industrial Parkway, Taylor Components on Southpark Boulevard and San Antonio Components on Pitluk Avenue.
Roof trusses are custom designed and built to customer plans in common, hip, attic, scissor and other configurations, and can stand up to 14 feet tall before piggyback tops are needed. Sheathed gables, hip caps for dropped hip ends and valley trusses are available. Wood-webbed floor trusses run up to 24 inches deep and 40 feet long, with mechanical chases, lined-up webs and stair openings designed into the floor system. Wall panels come as interior or exterior panels in 2×4 through 2×12 framing, sheathed to specification, with raked and tall walls and shop drawings on request.
In-house designers handle truss and wall panel layouts against local codes and load requirements, and the company offers on-site design and engineering for roof and floor trusses and Trus-Joist floor systems. The City of Houston’s registered fabricator list includes all three plants for wood trusses and wall panels. The Structural Building Components Research Institute lists the San Antonio and Van Alstyne plants and a JP Hart Components plant in Taylor, and SCORE participant listings include the three plants plus a Texas Building Supply Fort Worth truss site.
